** Pinacoteca does not offer transportation services. Chartered buses can be parked on the street in front of the museum.

Photographs and video news footage can only be carried out on the premises of the Pinacoteca through prior scheduling, provided they are related to the museum collections and exhibits. In some cases photography and video footage are also authorized strictly for academic use, with notification from the educational institution. Admission price is R$ 6.00 (full price) / R$ 3.00 (half-price for students with appropriate student ID). Children under 10 and over seniors over 60 years of age are admitted free of charge. On Saturdays, admission is free. The museum is open from Wednesday to Monday, from 10:00 to 5:30 pm, and visitors may stay until 6:00 pm.

In order to provide a satisfactory service to students, the Pinacoteca only attends to those who are developing a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation.

You can conduct your research at the Walter Wey Library (requires no prior scheduling), which specializes in visual arts, with wide range of books and catalogs, plus a newspaper library. It is open on Mondays, and Wednesday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. as well as Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The proposed works are evaluated by the museum’s technical staff and by Conselho de Orientação Artística – COA (Art Advisory Board (COA). Send an e-mail to email@example.com with the following information, for it to be forwarded to the appropriate party:

– whether it is signed and/or has inscriptions;
– current location of the work (city and state);
– record of provenance (how and where it was acquired), exhibitions, and publications;

Pinacoteca de São Paulo is a museum whose collection has works dating from the colonial period to contemporary times. The exhibition schedule is therefore defined using criteria that seek to balance the historical and the contemporary, domestic and international, emphasizing the artistic practices in different times and contexts. We seek to assure that the public will have contact with a variety of expressions, approaches, themes and periods, in order to expand their repertoire, while we also propose to bring the knowledge produced by the museum itself about its history and its collection. Most of the exhibitions and publications are organized based on the collections held by the museum, plus the efforts of its technical sectors: Conservation and Restoration, Educational Action, Documentation and Memory Center – CEDOC, and the Library, in addition to the Center for Research and Curatorship.
Accordingly, we seek to promote broader dissemination of the activities developed by each area of the institution and to explore segments of the collection that the visiting public rarely has access to. Below we describe the main lines that guide the programming of the Pinacoteca’s exhibits:
– Review of the career of contemporary Brazilian artists;
– Thematic domestic and international shows;
– Institutional history and collections.
Process for suggesting an exhibit or artist:
The annual programming of the Pinacoteca’s exhibits is defined at least 18 months in advance. It comprises internally developed research proposals, as well as projects that reach the museum by contact with other professionals in the art world, namely: artists, curators and producers. The starting point of an exhibit at Pinacoteca is always the presentation of a project to the Center of Curatorship and Research, for evaluation. If the project falls within the institution’s Exhibits Policy, it will be forwarded to the General Board and, after that, to the Conselho de Orientação Artística (Art Advisory Board) – this is the body that has the final discussion regarding whether or not to include the project in the museum’s schedule of exhibits.
