On March 19, São Paulo-based artist Marcelo Zocchio opens his first solo exhibition at Pinacoteca de São Paulo, the art museum of the São Paulo State Secretariat of Culture, which will bring together 25 works including photographic series, objects, and records of interventions.

Based on the work titled “Quadro 2011” acquired by Pina at the Patrons Meeting, the exhibit highlights how the artist’s works propose a discussion of the status of photography, at times exploring its passage into three-dimensionality, at times putting in check its effect of veracity and registration.

The exhibit called “Marcelo Zocchio e a imagem materializada” [“Marcelo Zocchio and materialized image”] aims to present an outline of the artist’s recent production, particularly that in which operations are identified with photographic images. “I think it’s impossible to have any reflection on art and the status of the photographic image on the Brazilian scene in recent decades without touching on Zocchio’s production; this is the main reason for this exhibit,” said curator of the show and general director of the Pinacoteca, Tadeu Chiarelli.

The show will run through June 6, 2016, on the 1st floor of the Pinacoteca – located at Praça da Luz, 2. Admission is open Wednesday through Monday from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, and visitors are allowed to remain until 6:00 pm. Tickets cost R$ 6 (full price) and R$ 3 (half-price for students, seniors, etc.). Admission is free-of-charge for children under 10 and adults over 60. On Saturdays, admission is free for all visitors.
