Hilma af Klint foi uma artista sueca que começou a pintar em estilo abstrato já em 1906. Ela apresentou ideias filosóficas complexas, noções espirituais e experiências religiosas em formas físicas na tela. Diferentemente de seus contemporâneos Kandinski e Maliévitch, af Klint nunca teve discípulos ou alunos. Sua obra se tornou visível somente a partir dos anos oitenta, em exposições nos Estados Unidos e no norte da Europa. A Pinacoteca de São Paulo traz, pela primeira vez, os trabalhos de Hilma af Klint para a América Latina. Hilma af Klint pintou para o futuro – e o futuro é agora!

Hilma af klint: Possible worlds

Hilma af Klint was a Swedish artist who started to paint in abstract form already in 1906. She systematically presented complex philosophical ideas, spiritual concepts and religious experiences in physical shapes on the canvas. Unlike her contemporaries Kandinsky and Malevich, af Klint never had disciples or students. Her work only came to public in the late nineteen-eighties, shown in exhibitions in the United States and Northern Europe. The Pinacoteca de São Paulo exhibition is the first time Hilma af Klint’s work is being shown in Latin America.Hilma af Klint painted for the future – and the future is now!
